The products are hand crafted in small batches using the best local ingredients available. In a relatively new category to London we wanted to give Ferment it’s own point of view. Leaning into a bold and bright brand world that was as unapologetic as its funky flavours. Koji fermentation is a process that creates pungent, intense and complex flavours, we wanted to use the grains that start this process (rice, soy beans and pearl barley) as the foundation for Ferment’s visual language. Eating one is like nothing you’ve ever experienced before, so we developed a brand platform and launch campaign that brought this joyfully uplifting and unusual sensation to life. We wanted to make Little Moons famous and desirable under the proposition 'Ice cream from another world'. We made a unusual, premium and sophisticated world that the Little Moons could live and float in. By leaning into their colour palette we were able to really bring the product and boxes to life. It was one of the first brands to successfully bridge the gap between the modern and the traditional worlds of beer. However they weren't feeling modern or contemporary. Harvie the mouse (the only inhabitant of the 200-year-old barn when it was converted into a brewery) had been underused and that the hierarchy of messaging had become confused. Their point of difference being their business founded by their members up in Manchester all the way back in 1844, Co-op has always been rooted in the community. They had a strong brand accent in colour (Co-op Brand Blue ) however their primary typeface (Avenir Next) lacked the warm and spirit that their brand needed. 1844 was created to improved consistency, attribution, personality and fluency throughout comms in all channels and platforms of the business. My hand writing was used as the foundation for 1844, working closely with Emma from Studio Eaves to bring it to life and the team at Co-op to ensure a successful roll out through their business. The family is comprised of 3 sets of uppercase, lowercase, numerals, punctuation and marks. The backend of 1844 has been coded to use all 3 sets when typing.
